Project Garrison NW Weed & Seed utilizes Public Safety, Development and Revitalization projects as strategies to displace criminal establishments and activity. 

Our goal is to inventory and map vacant, dilapidated, and abandoned properties developing baseline data for community revitalization study and citing possible forfeiture properties, assist in the neighborhood revitalization plan, structure a funding strategy that implements redevelopment utilizing public and private sources.

We continue to inter-face with Greater Northwest Community Coalition (GNCC) to determine feasible and appropriate development/revitalization projects.

 

Services:
 
Public Safety

Awarded a $50,000 Community Capacity Development (CCD) supplement from HUD to provide a new approach Anti-Dug program at a federally assisted housing site in our CCD target area.

Goal:    Project Garrison continues to serve as facilitator of a community-wide Public Safety Planning Committee. Further, we are collaborating with our local Baltimore City Police Department staff to install video cameras at suspected high intensity drug trafficking corners. Monitoring of the activity will occur at the Police Substation located at our Safe Haven.

  • Improved lighting and video surveillance to enhance security

  • Augment security by utilizing an increased Baltimore City Police Department presence and private security personnel

  • Enhancement of the investigation and prosecution of drug related crimes incorporating activities of Project Garrison’s Weed & Seed joint law enforcement operation

Development

We continue to inter-face with GNCC to determine feasible and appropriate development/revitalization projects.

Goal:  Project Garrison will utilize development as a strategy to displace criminal establishments and activity.  We are participating in a community-at-large-planning process providing leadership in the   Public Safety initiative.

  • To structure a funding strategy that implements redevelopment utilizing public and private sources.

  • Continue to support Greater Northwest Community Coalition (GNCC), a coalition of 23 neighborhood associations and community organizations in Northwest Baltimore City that strategically addresses issues related to education, economic development, legislation, public safety, and zoning for community stakeholders.

  • Continue to inter-face with Greater Northwest Community Coalition to determine feasible and appropriate development/revitalization projects.

Revitalization

Partnering with Humphrey Management/Fairfax Garden Apartments to enter a collaboration with them and provide a new approach Anti-drug program in Northwest Baltimore’s Weed & Seed Program Catchment area.  The “Project” will encompass the following elements at the Fairfax Gardens Development and Project Garrison NW Weed & Seed Safe Haven site.

Goal:    To inventory and map vacant, dilapidated, and abandoned properties developing baseline data for community revitalization study and citing possible forfeiture properties.

  • To structure a funding strategy that implements redevelopment utilizing public and private sources.
